A note from our market director, Maranda Williams:

We’re so grateful for the community’s interest in how our annual Tomato Sandwich Taste Off is coming along. After much deliberation, we have decided to postpone the return of the Tomato Sandwich Taste Off until summer 2022.

Though we are restless for the return of this relished community tradition, we felt we could not place the burden of the request on our participating restaurants.

Most folks don’t know that this event is our largest annual fundraiser, and our participating local restaurants donate all 700 tomato sandwiches and their personal staffing free of charge to support TRFM, which is a 501c3 nonprofit.

With the current state of the restaurant industry, we found that the demands of this event would negatively impact businesses still recovering from the financial strain of the pandemic while facing significant staffing shortages.

The Market exists by and through our community, and it is our duty and privilege to send back the support we have so graciously received.

The exciting news is that TSTO 2022 stands to raise the stakes and shake the region like none of its predecessors before! Stay tuned for some announcements concerning our revamped competition.

Still want a tomato sandwich? Topsoil Restaurant (one of our former competitors) is hosting a tomato-themed dinner on July 28th.
